Fabco Announces Product Enhancements
Split Shaft PTO Eliminates
Need for Auxiliary Engine; Updated Axle
Allows for Higher Torque and Load at Highway Speed
Fabco Automotive Corporation
has enhanced two of its product lines to offer solutions for its customers.
Fabco's new Split Shaft Power Take Offs (PTOs) eliminate the need for an
auxiliary engine, while Fabco by Sisu's 58,000 and 70,000-lb tandem drive
truck axles have been updated to allow for higher torque and load.
"By eliminating the need for an auxiliary engine to run stationary field
equipment applications, such as well drilling, an owner is able to reduce
both initial vehicle cost and maintenance costs," explained Al
Sunderland, President of Fabco. "In addition, our customers were looking
for methods by which they could increase their payload but decrease downtime
surrounding specialized heavy hauling. The redefined Sisu Tandem Drive Axle
allows for higher torque and load while allowing the driver to operate at
highway speed."
Fabco released the new family of Split Shaft PTOs for energy, well drilling,
and municipal service markets. The new model PTO-175 is available in 16-inch
and 23-inch nominal shaft centers. A broad offering of popular declutches and
direct pump mounting interfaces are available.
Additional features of the PTO-175 include:
- Forced lubrication of
critical bearings in both road and PTO modes
- New proprietary
lubrication pump
- External PTO
declutches allow easier replacement of other makes of gearboxes
- Helical drive gearing
and tapered roller bearings throughout
The new PTO-175 offers customers enhanced flexibility by using modular design
to ease reconfiguring PTO types in the field. The PTO-175 also shares
extensive service parts commonality with the popular Fabco TC-170 and
PTO-170, allowing easy integration into existing fleets.
The Sisu planetary hub reduction axles have been established for over 15
years in North American severe service applications such as oil field,
mining, heavy haul, logging and construction. The tandem drive axle family
has a nominal high-speed load rating of 70,000-lb., a standard slow speed
rating of 90,000-lb. with a gross combination pulling capacity of 330,000-lb.
A broad range of gear ratios are available from 3.78:1 to 10.55:1.
Updates include:
- Hot formed steel axle
housing with increased housing wall thickness
- Larger wheel hub
bearings with larger hub spindle
- Unitized, cartridge
type oil seals on all hub & differential positions
- Larger wheel-end
planetary gearing with increased oil capacity
- Larger diameter axle
drive shafts
Sisu model FR2P-26-S 58,000-lb. and FR2P-32-S 70,000-lb. axles are available
factory installed today by several North American trucks manufacturers. The
tandem axles also enable customers to produce advanced all wheel drive vehicles
when integrated with Fabco Transfer Cases and Front Steer Driving Axle
systems. Fabco Automotive Corporation is the exclusive distributor of Sisu
Axles in North America. Fabco has one of the
most complete offerings of steerable and rigid drive axles, transfer cases
and specialty gearboxes for commercial vehicles. For more information, please
